One of the most striking examples of obstruction due to bureaucracy in foreign investments is the large project of the Med Sea Health and Mare Village SA tourist complex in the Canister area in Paliuri, Halkidiki.
The good news is that now, after about a 7-year delay, the state has given the green light to investment development, which began in recent months and is expected to be completed in 2015. The capital for this project comes from Russia and is estimated at 150 million. Although these investments went through many difficulties until they received government approval, investors were not discouraged, showing patience and supporting their original plan.
Stergios Pitsiorlas, a former member of Sinaspismos, played a significant role in the development of investments, who supported investors by convincing them not to abandon the plan, rather than the seven years it took to finally get approval.
Mr. Pitiorlas had previously spoken out without hesitation on this issue, believing that some documents could be issued within 45 days instead of 3 months, or on the allocation of a marina, which preceded the subsequent requirement to submit an environmental report.
The initial interest was shown by Russian investors in 2006, according to Mr. Pitsiorlas, and at the same time there was concern about whether they should leave because of the economic difficulties and defamation that Greece suffered abroad.
These problems, however, are a thing of the past, as the construction of the tourist division has already begun and is expected to give a powerful boost to "thermal" tourism in Greece.
The design of the spa and thalassotherapy Superlux was developed by the Italian specialist Francesco Bernanti. The plan includes a high-quality tourist 5-star hotel complex with 640 beds (300 rooms, of which 65 will be equipped with a swimming pool, as well as 30 apartments), a hydrotherapy spa, a marina with a capacity of 90 yachts and a village. of the 150 holiday homes (which will be available for sale), with a total area of 330 acres. The hotel is built on a hill, on top of which there is a hydrotherapy center, which will consist of 62 luxurious rooms with swimming pools and be fed with water from the district's hot springs.
Investors spent 15 million euros on the purchase of land, and the project is being implemented by a couple of companies, the hotel and wellness company Med Sea Health and the hotel and property company Mare Village SA.
