Prokhorov's stake was valued at $3.6 billion.

Gariil Yushvaev, former co-owner of the company "Wimm-Bill-Dann" and State Duma deputy Z.Mutsoyev bought from ONEXIM a share (38%) of Polyus Gold, owned by Mikhail Prokhorov.

ONEXIM does not disclose the amount of the transaction, however, according to leaked media reports, Prokhorov's stake was valued at $ 3.6 billion.

As it was written in the press the day before, the owner of 40% of Polyus Gold, Suleiman Kerimov, has already stated his desire to acquire a stake in Prokhorov.

Suleiman Kerimov and Zelimkhan Mutsoev already have experience in doing business together. Kerimov, Mutsoev and Skurov acquired a controlling stake in Silvinita in 2010.  After the merger of Silvinit and Uralkali, control of the combined company passed to Kerimov.

Prokhorov, who has always maintained operational control, including through management, over Polyus Gold, sold his stake, Forbes reported.

The former KazakhGold company, and now Polyus Gold International controls more than 95% of the shares of Polyus Gold OJSC, the leader of the gold mining market in Russia. The company is developing deposits in the Magadan region, Irkutsk and Amur regions, Yakutia, and the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

In the near future, the British regulator of acquisitions and mergers should make a decision on the request for the sale of Prokhorov's shares, and most likely it will be positive, Reuters reported, relying on several knowledgeable sources.

The deal to sell Prokhorov's stake in Polyus Gold will open up opportunities for its merger with Polymetal, the largest silver producer in Russia.

The deal could happen as early as the first quarter of this year, if of course it receives a positive assessment.
